A "hunter" shoot is designed to give opportunities to practice hunting-like shots at hunting-like distances.

The shots are scored and add an element of adrenaline that is somewhat similar to the hunting pressure we experience. The goal is to be safe, have fun, and become better at our craft. The shoots are held at the Golden Spike range and the targets require 4WD vehicles (side-by-side's, or 4 wheelers) to access and get around. The targets are animal shaped metal targets.

The muzzleloader shoot will have two classes: Open and UT rules.

For the open class there will not be restrictions to optics or the type of muzzleloaders.

For the UT rules competition the muzzleloader rules allocated by the UT fish and game need to be followed.

Minimum caliber allowed is 40 caliber and only open sites, red dots, or 1X scopes are allowed.

Prizes will be awarded to the top three scores. There will be a total of 20 shots made during the competition. Shots will be between 100 and 400 yards.

The shots will be timed to simulate the pressure you feel during hunting scenarios.

The thermal shoot will be conducted at night. Non Magnum calibers are required to avoid shooting out the metal targets (shooting less than 60 grains of powder).

Shots will be between 150 - 620 yards.

We look forward to seeing you on the range.
